Marius ZABIN
Marius Zabin Marius Zabin is a contemporary painter with a classical tendency. Born in Warsaw in 1956, he was trained at the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, he moved to France, where he worked as a restorer for national museums.
His style results from a harmonious fusion between a training rooted in the principles of socialist realism and a love for European classical painters. Zabin revisits the great painters of 19th-century European realism and draws inspiration from the mythical aspects of their creations. He creates contemporary work that counters the principles of transgression found in contemporary art.
Professing the love of beauty for its own aesthetic existence is, in itself, a transgression. Marius Zabin does not adhere to the principles of contemporary art, which often focuses on the relentless pursuit of progress and novelty. However, he utilizes a modern color palette with strong contrasts influenced by his Slavic heritage.
He also reduces forms to their evocative essence, rather than aiming for a direct representation of reality. In this way, he works as a painter of his time, not merely as an apologist for the past.
